Preparatory

The preparatory department provides an outstanding education where children are encouraged to maximise their potential across a wide range of academic, physical and social activities. Our broad and balanced curriculum allows children to consolidate their strengths and discover new opportunities to channel their interests. The family ethos of the school, weaves through every aspect of our four pillars with the values we share paramount to children’s school life at Westville.

Lower Prep (F1 & F2)

All subjects are taught with a balance of teaching and learning styles to get the best outcome for each child. Specialist staff, form teachers and the senior team all work together to ensure that all children can achieve their full potential. Positive values and high standards of behaviour and social skills are encouraged and children are given opportunities to contribute to the surrounding area by supporting charities and the local community.

Academic standards are high, but we also emphasise personal and social development. Children embrace responsibility and there are numerous opportunities for them to be active, collaborative learners.
Staff work diligently to ensure core skills, problem solving and a flexible mind-set are promoted. Opportunities are in abundance for each child to shine, gain confidence and build their self-esteem from participation in cultural events to drama lessons and inter-school academic and sports competitions enjoying both home and away fixtures.

Upper Prep (F3 & F4)

Children are encouraged to embrace opportunities and participate in academic, social and physical activities away from the classroom. Our approach greatly enhances children’s interests and enjoyment, helping them to find their niche and actively participate in their education. During these years a focus is placed on preparing children for senior school entrance examinations. Our teachers devote time to help parents and carers make the right choices for their child's educational future. Please see here for further details.

The last year of prep completes a Westvillians journey at Westville House School. Children are equipped with the skills and character to fulfil their goals and secure entry to the school of choice. Once exams are over the Year 6 pupils spend the rest of the year in a highly engaging and diverse programme which includes a plethora of speakers, trips and awards.

Please see our Year 6 educational statistics here.
